Bilateral pneumotorax, in a convolenting patient of covid-19 infection. About a case

Abstract

Introduction: The pathophysiological alterations that occur at the pulmonary level in COVID 19 infection can generate a series of infrequent complications such as pneumothorax that develops both in the acute stages and during recovery from this disease. 

Objective: To provide information about the late complications of Pneumonia due to COVID 19 by describing a clinical case. 

Material and methods: Retrospective descriptive study, description of a clinical case.  

Results: The case of a 51-year-old patient with COVID-19 pneumonia in convalescence who comes for a medical check-up and follow-up presenting respiratory distress is presented. Tachypneic, hypoxemic patient, altered pulmonary auscultation. 

Conclusion: COVID 19 infection is a risk factor per se for pneumothorax even in late stages of the disease, so it is important to continue with the medical follow-up of these patients.
